Horace Lee "Shorty" Williams

Horace Lee "Shorty" Williams of Wilmington died Saturday October 31, 2015. He was born September 19, 1924 in Nash County NC, son of the late Joseph Mack Williams and Mary Vick Williams and was preceded in death by his wife Mary Christine Godbold Williams, grandson Thomas Ray Williams Jr. and a great granddaughter Danyel Williams. Horace was a member of the Apostolic Tabernacle in Wilmington, NC. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in the Pacific and Iwo Jima during WWII. Also, he was a retiree of Federal Paper Company in Riegelwood, NC. Surviving are his children Harold Lee Williams (Annette), Thomas Ray Williams (Gloria), Donald Joseph Williams (Tana), Margaret "Maggie" Asbell (Mike); grandchildren, Brian Lee Williams, Christy Kremin, Christopher "Scott" Williams, Andrea Horne, Lori Smithey, Wesley Green, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, sisters Betty Ruth Moore and Maggie Pearl Nance. A funeral service will be held 11am Thursday November 5, 2015 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel with Reverend L.E. Logue officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm Wednesday November 4, 2015 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel.
