Howard Charles Morse, Jr., 71, of Leland, NC, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 1, 1942, in Brockton, MA, the son of the late Howard Charles Morse, Sr. and Elizabeth Safford Morse. Howard was a thirteen year veteran of the US Coast Guard as well as being a Vietnam Veteran. He worked as a Marine Engineer for over twenty years with Standard Oil of Indiana and then was self-employed for another twenty years. Howard had a lifelong love affair with the ocean and enjoyed volunteering at the Fort Fisher Aquarium. He will be remembered for his compassion, his sense of humor and as a man who was a friend to everyone. Surviving is his wife of forty-seven years, Audrey Morse; four daughters, Gail Raifsnider (Kenny), Becky McClure (Mike), Jennifer McCullough (Chuck), and Colleen Derbak (Joe); ten grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Elaine Morse and Betty-Ann Holly (Ted). Family and friends are invited to a time of remembering and celebrating Howard's life from 2 to 3 pm Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
