Jackie L. Stevens, 67, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015. He was born in Whiteville, NC, on December 7, 1947 to J. Ethel and Mattie Stevens. Jackie retired with 31 years of service from the NC Department of Transportation in Wilmington where he worked in the signs and services department. Jackie was a true NASCAR fan, especially a fan of Dale Earnhart, Sr. #3. Jackie was well known and loved by many people and was always willing to help anyone in their time of need. He could fix most anything and was called upon by everyone to help. Jackie is survived by his daughter, Chris Stevens and fiancée Johnny Padgett and Chris's mother Brenda Harrington; his life-long companion and mate, Tiny McDaniel and her mother, Frances; a sister, Louise Hobbs; and many special aunts, uncles, extended family, friends and three very special friends, Rudy Howell, Neil Smith, and Wayne Hardee. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. To honor Jackie, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
