Jackson Thomas Forssberg, 13, of Wilmington, received his angel wings and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 24, 2022. He was born to William Forssberg of Sweden and Lisa Howard of Wilmington on June 17, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Beulah McFayden Arthur whom died in 2021 and his great-grandfather Donald Arthur; great-uncles: Roger Arthur, Donnie Arthur and Richard Legler and his cat, Jinx.
Jackson was in the 7th grade at Murray Middle School. Jackson was born in Stockholm, Sweden, moved to France when he was 16 months old and then Houston, Texas at the age of 6. He moved with his mom and brother Maxwell to Wilmington, NC in March 2020 and was diagnosed with stage IV mucinous adenocarcinoma colorectal cancer a few months later. He had a 14 hour HIPEC surgery performed by the world leader in pediatric surgery and oncology Dr. Andrea Hayes at UNC Chapel Hill and Dr. Michael Phillips. He continued treatment at UNC for the duration of his long battle traveling between Wilmington and Chapel Hill often over the past 2 years. He was an avid boat lover, online wheeler dealer, artist, a chef and boat Captain. He was an old soul, loved adults, loved all kinds of music, loved his mom's stories, thought his big brother walked on water, loved road trips, loved the ocean and loved his family and cats; he was a doer, had GRIT and loved life.
He was our sunshine, the light of our lives and he was our gold dust. Now he is our personal angel as he has earned his wings. He is painfully missed.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Maxwell Forssberg; grandparents: Linda and Thomas Howard of Kure Beach, Inger and Olof Forssberg of Stockholm, Sweden; aunts and uncles: Julie (Howard) and Anthony Shrewsbury, Jennifer (Howard) and Keith Hall, all of Wilmington; Eva Backe and Per Forssberg of Stockholm, Sweden, Annelie and Mats Forssberg of Sundsvall, Sweden, and Tanya Ezzedine and Jan Forssberg of Zurich, Switzerland; great-aunts: Joan Beasley of Wilmington, Beverly Legler, Judith and Jack Jansen, all of Phoenix, Arizona and Margaret Arthur of Kure Beach; numerous cousins who loved him dearly and his cat Sahara.
A visitation will be held from 9am until 11am on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service Chapel, 1155 Shipyard Blvd. A Celebration of Life will follow from 12 noon until 3:00pm at Airlie Gardens with Minister Bailey Brislin officiating.
