She was born June 18, 1938, in Baltimore, to the late Eva M. (nee Burns) and Percy S. Lowery. She was a 1956 graduate of Southern High School and a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, Maryland.
Jackie was a medical secretary at Kennedy Krieger Institute and worked for the Maryland Department of Education. In North Carolina, she worked as a Poll Worker on Election Days and volunteered as an Airport Ambassador where she enjoyed meeting and assisting soldiers passing through Wilmington International Airport. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, time at the beach with her granddaughters, baking, gardening, and driving her red convertible sports car.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years Donald King, daughter Dona (King) Gapp of New Jersey, son Douglas King of Florida and 3 grandchildren: Marlena, Corrina, Natalie.
