

James Elbert Baker passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 02, 2010 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Mr. Baker was well loved by immediate and extended family and many good friends. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Dorthea Shelton Baker; his son, James Cecil Baker; his parents Charles and Stella Baker; his sisters, Helen Baker Bean, Ruby Baker Davidson, Thelma Baker Parker and Peggy Baker Otis and his brothers, Aaron Baker and Marshall Baker Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Marie Baker Russell and her husband John Russell, his granddaughter Michelle Ann Russell Yarwood and husband Peter; their four children, Danielle, Christopher, Chloe and Brooke; his grandson Steven Michael Bumby and wife Joanna; their children Joshua and Zale; his granddaughter Tammy Lynn Russell Hardee and husband David; their daughter Ashley; his grandson Matthew James Bumby; his grandson Timothy Ray Russell and his granddaughter Samantha Marie Russell. He is also survived by his siblings, Isabelle Baker Barton, John Milo Baker and William Baker. Mr. Baker's extended family includes nieces, nephews and cousins who have been important in his life, all of whom will be touched by his loss. Mr. Baker served in the United States Air Force and worked and retired from GE. Mr. Baker and his wife spent their married life together helping immediate and extended family during times of need. Their generosity will continue to touch lives for generations to come. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Following the services, the family will receive friends at Mr. Baker½s home.
