James Ellie Barnes
August 25, 1940 – June 18, 2016
James Ellie Barnes, 75, of Wilmington, passed away on June 18, 2016. He was born in Rich Square, NC on August 25, 1940 to the late Lowell and Miriam Barnes.
James graduated from Rocky Mount (NC) High School. He served in the US Coast Guard, volunteered for WHQR-FM (Wilmington) and was a lover of classical music and jazz. He was a long time resident of Wilmington and devoted husband to his wife Marsha and pet dog Kiwi.
He is survived by his wife Marsha LeMay Barnes, sister Mary Hebblethwaite (John), Aunt Enola Brown and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Wrightsville Beach United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m.
The family wishes to thank Lower Cape Fear Hospice, special care givers Frank and Peggy Efird, Wrightsville Beach United Methodist Church, and James neighborhood friends.
