"Jimmy"

Jimmy was a lifelong Wilmingtonian and bachelor. He passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, after a three-year battle with cancer. He was 62. He is survived by his mother, Pam Barfield (John), and a brother Mike Helms (Ginny). 

Jimmy held many jobs throughout his life. He ran warehouses, made fiber optics, roasted coffee and was a certified massage therapist. He was a jack of all trades. His true passions were fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. These things were what made him happy. If you ever heard him laugh, you knew immediately who it was. Jimmy also loved music and had a great ear for it. He was always present on the local and regional music scene. 

A special thanks to Rob Newton. He was Jimmy’s roommate and a friend for forty years. Also a special thank you to Lower Cape Fear Life Care where donations can be made. 

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday February 25 from 3pm to 6pm at the Elks Club Lodge 5102 Oleander Dr. Wilmington NC 28403.
