

James Carroll Fox, Jr., “Jimbo”, was born August 13, 1952, and died February 5, 2023. He was the son of the Honorable and Mrs. James Carroll Fox. Jimbo was a lifelong Wilmington native. He spent his high school years at Woodberry Forest School in Orange, VA and was graduated in 1970. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and received his Masters in Business Administration from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA in 1980. Jimbo worked as a financial advisor with Wheat First Securities; Fox, Graham & Mintz; and Scott & Stringfellow. He was a member of the Civitan Club, the Carolina Yacht Club, and the L’Arioso German Club. He loved his many dogs, was an avid hunter, and loved his time hunting locally, in Virginia, and abroad in Canada, Scotland, and Africa. He is survived by his mother, Katharine Rhett Fox, two sisters, Jane Fox Brown (Michael) and Ruth Fox Jordan (Jay) all of Wilmington, and his three children, Jennifer Fox Miller (Greg) of Charleston, SC, Mercer Fox Renquist (Allen) of Kampala, Uganda, and James Carroll Fox III (fiancé Forbes Winston) of Wilmington. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Dominic, Smith, Holland, Lola, and Miles, in addition to many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery, 520 N. 15th Street, Wilmington, NC on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 1:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the American Kidney Fund.
