James Irvin Poole

James Irvin Poole, aged 87, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025. Born on November 2, 1937, in Greensboro, North Carolina, he was the beloved son of Sam Irvin Poole and Juliette Folger Poole.

After moving from Greensboro to Surry County during his youth, James went on to graduate from Dobson High School and Guilford College in Greensboro. Following his academic achievements, he dedicated four years of service to the U.S. Navy. In 1964, James married his high school sweetheart, Georgia Badgett, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years.

James held various roles throughout his career, starting at City Auto Finance in Greensboro and subsequently transferring to Galex, VA, Kingsport, TN, and Wilmington, NC, before concluding his professional journey at Archer-Daniels-Midland in Southport, NC. He was known for his beautiful baritone voice and had a deep passion for cars, his favorites being 1950 Mercury and 1994 Ford truck.

James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Georgia Badgett Poole, their son Craig Irvin Poole, and his brother Sam Folger Poole. He is survived by his extended family and friends. The family of James Poole would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Eddie and Wendy Exley for their exceptional care and support, which made a significant impact on both James and Georgia's lives during their final years.
