

Jimmie Ray ""G.B.W."" Baldwin, 62, of Wilmington, NC, Masonboro Community passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008, at his residence. He was born August 6, 1945, in Wilmington, NC, son of Ruth Hinson Baldwin of Wilmington, and the late Junius Otto Baldwin. In addition to his mother, Jimmy is survived by his wife, Carolyn Mintz Baldwin; daughters, Tammy Baldwin Rogers and Gina Rae Baldwin; a step-son, Gerald Mintz and wife Wanda; grandson, Julian Dalton Rogers; step-grandsons, Matthew and Jesse Mintz; and a sister, Dixie McGowan and husband Del. Jimmie served in the United States Army as a Korean Peace Keeper, the Vietnam War, and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He loved gardening for his family and friends. He spent lots of time as a shedsitter with a live cedar tree growing in the center and up into the clouds. He enjoyed having this hideaway to be with his many buddies and cooking on his woodstove. Jimmie's family would like to especially thank Lower Cape Fear Hospice and the Zimmer Cancer Center of all of their thoughtfulness. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Jimmie will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts honoring Jimmie may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or a charity of individual choice.
