James Francis Shea iii

“Shea” was born December 6, 1949, in Vallejo, CA, to the late James Francis and Bertha Shea. His siblings are Peder Shea, M.D., of San Diego, Thomas Shea of Fredericksburg, VA, and the late Mindy Whitman. In 1996, he married Shirley Ann Falvey. His four stepchildren are Patrick Falvey of Cary, NC, Kathy Denlinger of Leland, NC, Daniel Falvey of Lititz, PA, and Eileen Lubold of York, PA, and his three grandsons are Sawyer Lubold of Bristow, VA, and Sean and Mark Falvey of Cary, NC.

Shea graduated from York High School in Yorktown, VA, and earned his bachelor’s degree from UNC-Wilmington. He worked as a roadie, a carpenter and a counselor. Prior to his retirement, Shea worked at Coastal Horizon in Wilmington, NC. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Wilmington and a long-time member of the Bill W Club.

Shea will be remembered for his honesty and his respect and compassion for people. Because of his character, he touched many lives and had countless friends and knew someone everywhere he went.

Shea had many great pleasures in his life including rugby, the beach and ocean, the company of friends and family, the coastal life, his cats, his grandsons, Orioles baseball, cooking shrimp and grits, travel and adventures with Shirley, golf with friends, and music.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, NC, on June 13, 2019, at 2 pm. Casual attire is welcome.
