

James David “Jim” Williams, Sr., 79, of Hampstead, N.C. passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on July 8th, 2021. He was born September 24th, 1941 in Athens, W.V. to James E. Williams and Hazel Montgomery Williams.
Jim is survived by his wife Kay Elder Williams; daughter Caryl Williams Mitchell and husband Barry; son James David Williams, Jr. and wife Robin; granddaughters Nina Mitchell Smith and Anna Lynne Williams and husband Brandon; grandsons Vlad W. Mitchell and wife Jamie, and James D. Williams, III; great-grandson, Maks Mitchell. He is also survived by his beloved older sister Laura Dixon, a special aunt, Fay Honeycutt, and his buddy Scooter the cat. Jim was preceded in death by his older brother William M. Williams.
Jim and Kay were high-school sweethearts at Myers Park High in Charlotte. Jim went on to graduate from Wingate Junior College and UNC-Charlotte. He served several years in the US Army missile command, and had a successful career of 30 years with the Foxboro Company in instrumentation and controls sales.
Jim was devoted to his family, friends and community, as well as an avid golfer. He was an active member of Hampstead United Methodist Church as well as serving in many roles at the American Legion Post #167. The highlight was his development of the local AL baseball program, which has touched many young people’s lives.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Hampstead United Methodist Church, Saturday, July 17th, 2021. Visitation will begin at 1pm, followed by 2pm service and burial immediately thereafter at Sea Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be designated to: Hampstead United Methodist Church, or the baseball program at the American Legion Post #167, PO Box 337, Hampstead, NC 28443.
