Jean Gloria Hilburn

Jean was born on October 22, 1930 in Columbus County to Lula and Thorbon Gause.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Harvey, and cherished son, Michael. She was also preceded in death by her parents, along with her siblings Buddy, Douglas, Jimmy, Myrtle, Putt, Dixie, Gale, Alma, and Jackie.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol, son-in-law, Bill, granddaughter, Hannah, and beloved granddog Mable. She is also survived by her sister Marian and many special nieces and nephews.

Jean was a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church. She fiercely loved her family and was their number one supporter. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a beautiful smile. Her loving, fun spirit and strong independence stayed with her throughout her life. She especially loved going out to eat with her family, and always made sure to have a pie ready for afterwards.

Jean’s family would like to acknowledge her caretaker Gayle for her compassionate support, and would also like to give their heartfelt appreciation to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center staff for the exceptional care Jean received.

According to her wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Carol, Bill, and Hannah will receive visitors at their home on Friday, December 5 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM.
