October 24, 1969November 29, 2019

Jeannine Stroman Jernigan, age 50, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at New Hanover Regional Medical Center on November 29, 2019, due to complications from a heart condition.

Jeannine was a very loving and dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She had an incredible beauty both inside and out. She was known for her kind and caring heart, sweet friendship, quiet strength, sincere loyalty, and deep compassion for others. She always displayed a positive attitude, fabulous sense of fashion, and a gorgeous smile that brightened every room she entered. Jeannine lived each moment to the fullest and took joy in many things such as taking walks on the beach, making trips to the mountains, listening to live music, dancing like there’s no tomorrow, cooking delicious meals for her family, making everyday life better with her contagious laughter, and delighting in caring for others. During the last year of Jeannine’s life, she fell head over heels in love with her husband, David, and became a devoted mom to the world renowned furry friend, Hims (Friend).

Jeannine was a longtime member of Cape Fear Christian Church in Wilmington. Her life was a living example of selfless love, dedication, kindness, and faith. We take comfort in knowing she was a faithful follower and baptized believer in Jesus Christ, and is now in Heaven with her Savior.

For more than 20 years, Jeannine worked at Olan Mills Portrait Studios. She was the favorite photographer for countless families living in and near New Hanover County. She had a sharp eye for capturing just the perfect pose of precious milestones for so many. The last few years, Jeannine worked at GHA Autism Supports. She was a wonderful advocate for individuals with autism. She demonstrated a nurturing and compassionate attitude and made such a positive impact. She was adored by all of her clients and co-workers.

Jeannine is survived by her husband David Jernigan, son Anthony Redmond, mother Connie DeGraw, sister Sharon Robie (Rick), brother Art Stroman (Sara), niece Alyssa Robie, and nephews Ricky Robie and Dylan Stroman.

I first met Jeanine in 1998 when she worked at Olan Mills. She photographed my boys until my youngest was around 2. I ran back into her a few years ago through her sister In law Sara. She was always the kindest soul. I know she will be so deeply missed. Prayers to David, Sara, Art, Sharon, Anthony and Dylan. Xoxo

I had the pleasure of meeting Jeannine through her husband David. She was very kind every time we spoke. She changed my friend David's world when they met. I knew they were soul mates. I'm very heartbroken over this. But I know our Lord has given her the biggest wings to fly in and check on us. I know she watching over her fur baby Hims right now. Jeannine dance among the angels until we meet again. Love, Tonya and Brant Pridgen
