

Jerry was born on September 17, 1961, in Wilmington, NC to Jerry Wayne Johnson, Sr. and the late Barbara Alice Dunn Johnson of Wilmington, NC.
Jerry is survived by his wife, E. Caroline Asbury Johnson; his daughters, Stephanie Johnson King (Justin) of Raleigh, NC, and grandson, Deek King; and Gretchen Johnson (Jeremy) of Wilmington, NC; father, Jerry W. Johnson Sr. and stepmother, Sheila Johnson; his brother, Corey Johnson (Sherry) and nieces, Sophie and Peyton Johnson, all of Wilmington; mother-in-law, Dolli Albrecht of Hampstead; a special cousin that was like a sister to him, Dorinda Warlick of Wilmington, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Alice Dunn Johnson of Wilmington NC; paternal grandparents, Eddie Bascom Johnson and Rosa Burton Johnson of Castle Hayne, NC; maternal grandparents, Freda Merritts Dunn and Clarence Dunn of Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Jerry was active in Boy Scouts as a child. He attended elementary, middle, and high school in Wilmington. He played high school sports at Hoggard High School and Wrestled for Elon College.
Jerry was married to the love of his life, E. Caroline Asbury Johnson for 44yrs. They were high school sweethearts that met at John T. Hoggard High School in 1978 in Wilmington, NC. Jerry and Caroline started a life together in Wilmington raising their 2 daughters. Jerry was active in coaching youth soccer for his daughters, active with school activities, and church. He enjoyed watching sports, movies, listening to oldies music, old hymns, spending time and playing with his grandson, Deek. Jerry also served on numerous boards in Wilmington, NC over the years.
After college Jerry began a 43yr. career with Duke Progress Energy Brunswick Nuclear Power Plant in Southport, NC. Most of those years were spent in the chemistry department, training, and environmental chemistry. His last years were Lead Primary Chemist for Brunswick Nuclear Power Plant.
Jerry lived a life rooted in faith, strength, love, and unwavering devotion to his family.
A special thank you to Jerry's colleagues at Duke Progress Energy, Brunswick Nuclear Power, Southport, NC. For their visits, phone calls, prayers, and support during his extended illness at Duke University Hospital. A special thank you to the neighbors, friends, family, and the congregation of Winter Park Baptist Church, Wilmington, NC. Thank you to Reverend Mary Elizabeth Hanchey for her weekly visits to Jerry during his last 6 months of hospitalization at Duke. To Reverend Mike Womble and all the staff at Winter Park Baptist Church for the support to Jerry and family during his difficult journey.
