Jerry Mar Swain

Jerry Mar Swain, 86, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 7,2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 14, 1939, Jerry was known for his sharp intellect, unique sense of humor, and quick-witted personality. In the early 1960s, Jerry proudly served his country as a member of the elite 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles”. Following his military service, he transitioned into a career in sales, beginning at Cahill & Swain Men’s Clothing, paving the way for a lifetime of joy in sales. Jerry possessed a lifelong passion for golf. As an avid player and a dedicated spectator, he enjoyed its challenge and social community. He also had a natural talent for mechanics and took great joy in tinkering with and repairing various projects. Jerry shared a lifetime of history with his beloved wife whom he married in 1961, Linda Gay Shelton Swain.

In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by his four children, Ginger, Cindy, Scott, and Misty; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the service hour. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
