Jessica Rainelle Mishoe Yackel

August 16, 1979 - September 21, 2026

Jessica Rainelle Mishoe Yackel, 47, passed away on September 21, 2026, following a lengthy decline in health.

For seven years, Jessica faced difficult battles with courage and perseverance. Although she ultimately was unable to overcome the challenges she faced, she continued to find meaning and joy in the people and moments that mattered most to her. Her journey was difficult, but it never diminished the sweetness, vibrancy, and love that defined who she was.

Jessica was a sweet person with an outgoing personality who brought warmth, joy, and love into the lives of those around her. She cherished the people she loved and, most of all, treasured the time she spent with her family. Her family was her greatest joy, and the memories they created together will be held close forever.

Jessica had a creative spirit and loved crafts, finding joy in making things. She was also a devoted NC State fan and enjoyed cheering on the Wolfpack. Whether crafting, watching NC State sports, or simply spending time with the people she loved, Jessica found happiness in the simple moments that made life meaningful.

Jessica is survived by her beloved husband, David Thomas Yackel, and her son, Dixon Thomas Yackel, and faithful fur child, Cupcake, who were the center of her world. She is also survived by her parents, Harmon Warren Mishoe and Rainelle Dixon Mishoe, whom she loved and admired for their unwavering support throughout her life and especially during her years of declining health.

She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Patricia Gelsey (Steve) and father-in-law, Ed Yackel. Jessica had extended family members including beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins, who will cherish the memories and special moments they shared with Jessica.

Jessica was a graduate of Hoggard High School and NC State University, where she proudly belonged to Delta Zeta sorority, Phi Psi textile fraternity, and Kappa Tau Beta textile honor fraternity.

Those who knew Jessica will remember her sweet heart, vibrant spirit, creativity, love of NC State, and above all, the deep love she had for her family. Her presence brought something special to the lives of those who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt.

Though her life was far too short, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the joy she brought to others will live on through her family and all who loved her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at 12 pm on Saturday, September 26, at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market St., Wilmington, NC, followed by a time of fellowship at 1:00 pm at the Dye Clubhouse of CCL, 1550 Landfall Dr., Wilmington, NC, and an intimate graveside service at 3:00 pm at Oakdale Cemetery, 520 N. 15th St., Wilmington, NC.

In lieu of flowers, Jessica wished for donations to be made in her memory to The Hill School of Wilmington, where Dixon has been a student for five years.
