Joan a resident of Wilmington, NC, was born in 1931 to Russell and Letitia Weber in Merchantville, New Jersey. Joan graduated with a degree in business, from Peirce College in Philadelphia. In the summer of 1944, Joan while working on the Boardwalk in Seaside Park, New Jersey, would have the good fortune of meeting a handsome young man by the name of Andy Kerekes. A couple of years later they married and have been together for “Only” 66 years. Thru their early years Joan worked at RCAVictor fulfilling her business degree which she was very proud of. She was the first member of her family to graduate college. After a short time in their marriage Joan and Andy started to raise a family, first having Victoria (Vicki) and later Andrew (Drew). I think if asked, Joan would say that the things that made her the most happy and the most proud in her life was the love of Andy, the good fortune of two “Healthy and Happy” children that “mostly” made her smile and two grandchildren Tori and Andrew, that she could not stop smiling about.
Joan was survived by her husband, Andrew Zoltan Kerekes, her daughter Victoria Kerekes-Ericsson, son-in- law Stuart Ericson, her son Andrew William Kerekes, daughter-in-law Jill Kerekes, and grandchildren Victoria Dawn Kerekes, Andrew Stockton Kerekes.
Her wishes were not to have a funeral service. In the future she asked to have her and Andy’s ashes spread across the ocean “Just off” of the Seaside Park Boardwalk where they first met.
At that time all are welcome to have a prayer and maybe a little toast, in honor of their lives and their beautiful marriage.
