John was a graduate of John T. Hoggard High School, competing on the varsity swim team and working summers as a lifeguard at Wrightsville Beach. He attended East Carolina University, enjoying his college breaks on the Outer Banks working and surfing. John loved the water throughout his life, especially surfing, boating, and fishing.
John was self-employed and owned his own business, Craft Custom Builders, for many years. He was a highly skilled and creative carpenter who was gifted in designing and building custom cabinetry and trim work. He was also a licensed General Contractor.
He loved hanging out with his friends and family. Many happy days were spent at the beach. John also enjoyed the weeks spent camping at Kerr Lake, appreciating the best of Lake Life with the family.
Anyone who knew John was touched by his generosity, his kind heart and his love for his family, friends, and animal companions.
He is survived by his mother, Billie Redman Craft, his four children, Brin Richard Craft, Andrew Craft, Sarah Kate Craft and Samantha Qualls and his grandchildren, Jimmy Craft, Morgan Craft, and Brin Craft Jr. He also leaves behind three brothers, Stephen Robert Craft and wife Ann, Michael Graham Craft and wife Joyce and Stanley Ashburn Craft and wife Jackie, as well as his nieces and nephews and extended family.
