In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Emily Smith, Roselee Britt, Mildred Brown and Eloise Hewitt.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hewitt of the home; one daughter: Connie Tyson of Lake Waccamaw, NC; two sons: Matthew Hewitt and wife Melissa and Mark Hewitt and wife Peggy all of Leland; 15 grandchildren: Jack, Jonathan, Ryane, Meagan, Nathan, Charles, Shawn, Matthew Jr, Justin, Brittany, Ariel, Marc, Matt and April and Travis and 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Pearly Hewitt of Myrtle Beach, SC and Mack Hewitt of Georgetown, SC.
A Visitation will be held from 1- 2pm on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel, 1155 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC. The Funeral Service will follow at 2pm with Pastor Joseph Lewis, Jr. officiating. The entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Shawn Nobles, Travis McKee, Mark Tyson, Jesse Beckworth, Heath Byrd and Nathan Harrelson.
