He was born November 1, 1948 to the late Joseph and Patricia Kunz. Joseph Kunz, 73, was raised in Paramus, NJ. He was married and raised his family in Clifton and Hamburg, NJ. Joseph moved to Wilmington, NC in 2004 to be close to his daughters and grandchildren.
Joseph was a hard worker and often worked 2 jobs to support his family and give them a good life. He worked in restaurant management, was a car salesman for over 20 years and worked for the Star Ledger newspaper in NJ. He served his country in the Vietnam War for the United States Army. He was a quiet soul and very soft spoken. His wife always did all of the talking. Joseph was generous, sweet, kind hearted and loving to all. His favorite times were spent with his wife, family and loved ones. He loved to go on family vacations (Disney World was his favorite). He was an avid NY Giants and NY Mets fan and could be found often in his recliner watching sports and the news.
His spirit will be carried on by his daughters, Danielle Nicole Platt, Sloane Lauren Kunz and Meghan Brielle Kunz of Leland, NC; his son in law Christopher Platt and grandchildren, Jake Thomas Platt, Zoe Addison Platt and Stone Joseph Platt of Leland, NC; sisters, Pam Chanfrau, Kathy Abel, Lynn Parapar, Carolyn Burdy and Patty Kunz; sister in laws, Rosemarie Kunz and Donna Kunz Smith; brothers in law, Bob Chanfrau, Fred Abel, Rich Parapar, and Jerry Burdy; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends from every walk of life.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Filemenia Kunz; parents, Joseph and Patricia Kunz; father and mother in law, Vincent and Elsie Ricciardi; brothers, Chuck Kunz and William Kunz; and sister, Peggy Taryla.
We would like to thank all of the caretakers that helped look after our dad and a special thank you to Gwen Dyson who treated our dad like her own family.
Joseph will be deeply missed by everyone and we are saddened by his passing, but feel comfort in knowing he has reunited with our mom in heaven. We know she has welcomed him with open arms and a cup of coffee and piece of cake.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday August 8, 2022 at St Mark Catholic Church, 1013 Eastwood Rd, Wilmington, NC 28403.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation.
