

Charles Joseph McSwain Simpson, 15, of Riegelwood, died Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Duke University Hospital.
Joseph was born September 26, 2001 in Wilmington, NC, son of Timothy McSwain Simpson and Terri Clayton Simpson. His paternal grandfather, Joseph McSwain Simpson, and his aunt, Jessica Shree Simpson, preceded him in death.
Joseph was a social butterfly. He enjoyed interacting with people and bringing smiles to their faces. He loved sports, especially Carolina basketball and Panther football. First and foremost, his family relationships, whether blood or acquired were very important. He never forgot a name or place. Above all, he cared about people. Wrestling was his first love, with John Cena being his favorite. Well one thing is for sure, Joseph, we did see you touch all our lives.
He is survived by his father, Tim McSwain Simpson and his fiancée, Stacy Balch, of Delco, NC; his mother, Terri Clayton Simpson and her fiancé, Thomas Henderson, of Winnabow, NC; two brothers, Timothy Stonewall Lee Simpson and Calvin Jefferson Lewis Simpson; sister, Samantha Dixie Jeanette Simpson; two step-sisters, Madison Marie Balch and Emma Rae Balch; two step-brothers, Craven Henderson and Gabe Henderson; two uncles, Christopher Clayton and wife, Christy, and Benjamin Joseph Simpson and wife, Tanya; maternal grandparents, Rodney and Bobbie Clayton; paternal grandmother, Shree Johnson; and step-grandmother, Joyce P. Kachiaper.
The family will receive friends from 7:00pm to 9:00pm Friday, February 3, 2017, at Red Hill Pentecostal Church, 1383 Byrdville Freeman Road, Delco, NC 28436.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Red Hill Pentecostal Church with Rev. Janet Hedrick and Rev. Jack Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in the Simpson Family Cemetery in Riegelwood, NC.
