

Born July 29, 1937, she was a native of Wilmington and was the daughter of the late William F. and Lydia “Lottie” W. Skipper.
She met the love of her life, Warren C. Baines, while he was stationed on the USCGC Mendota, and they made Wilmington their home until his passing in 2010.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren C. Baines, son, Michael C. Baines, daughter,
Traci B. Cooke, and brother, J. Daniel Skipper.
Because of her daughter Traci, Skip was a passionate advocate for the Eastern NC School for the Deaf where she working tirelessly to ensure that it continued to provide a high school program for the children of Eastern NC.
She was employed for many years at J. W. Murchinson in the administrative department and later with McAnderson’s before retiring in 1999.
Surviving is her daughter, Kimberlee B. Hunter and husband, David, of Morehead City; son, Warren C. Baines, Jr. and wife, Anjanette of Wilmington; 2 brothers, William F. “Buddy” Skipper, Jr. and wife, Diane of Wilmington; Jerry R. Skipper and wife, Sylvia of Wilmington; 2 sisters, Mary S. Long and husband, McKendree “Mike” of Columbia, SC and Sheridan “Sherrie” S. Jones and husband, Stuart, of Wilmington. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Megan Hunter, Allen and Matthew Cooke, Rylee and Brodie Baines and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 10:00 am at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home in Wilmington with service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The biggest joy in her life was her family. She was a loving and loved, generous and nurturing person and will be deeply missed.
