She was born in Wilmington, NC on July 5, 1936, daughter to Mack Roland Hobbs and Josephine Hill Hobbs. Including her parents, she was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Carey Washington Strickland; granddaughter, Rebecca Leigh Cooke; brother, Claudius Richard Hobbs; and nephew, Richard A Hobbs.
She is survived by daughters, Kathy S. Cooke (Justin), Teresa S. Cooke and Renee Wilson (Jared); grandson, Elton Lee Cooke (Tracy); granddaughter, Addison Wilson; brother-in-law, Henry Lee Strickland; adopted daughter, Melodye Duncan (Ted); fur baby, Foofie and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday June 8, 2026 at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.
Graveside Service will start at 1:00pm on Tuesday June 9, 2026 at Oleander Memorial Gardens. 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409 with Pastor Brian Raleigh and Pastor Austin Vestrand officiating.
