Juanita Rogers Dail

Juanita Rogers Dail, 95, of Carolina Beach, NC died at home surrounded by her loving family.  Juanita was born April 4, 1921 in Wilburton, Oklahoma, where her father was hospitalized after his service in the US Navy and he also attended the School of Mines.

At the age of 2, the family moved to Blytheville, Arkansas, where her father was also hospitalized, learned the art of welding and farmed cotton.  The family then moved to Stuttgart, Arkansas, where they owned a home, for their final destination.  Her father began farming and established his welding business there.

She attended public schools in Stuttgart and graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1939.  She then graduated from beauty college in Little Rock and began her life’s career as a hairdresser, which was abruptly interrupted by World War II.  She then began working for the Stuttgart Army Air Base on airplanes (Rosy, the Riveter).  This is where she met a handsome sergeant from North Carolina, Earl Vernon Dail.  They were married February 15, 1944, just prior to his transfer to India as an engineer on a C-54 (Flying Boxcar) flying supplies to the Chinese Army.

After the War Juanita and Dail returned to Carolina Beach, North Carolina, where they made their permanent home.  Dail went into the amusement park and arcade business and Juanita opened her hairdresser business that continued for over 70 years.

She respected the world and nature which compelled her to adopt many furry and feathered creatures.

In addition to her hairdresser business, Juanita was very active in many organizations—Woman’s Club, Garden Club, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Girl Scout leader, United Daughters of the Confederacy and many others.  She was also an accomplished artist, world traveler, homemaker and most of all a mother, wife, companion, daughter, sister, grandmother and best friend to many. 

She is survived by a sister (Judy Baser of Stuttgart, Arkansas), brother (Harold Rogers of Denver, Colorado and Phoenix, Arizona), children (Jean Loughlin of Hampstead, NC and Paul Scherm of Wilmington, NC), granddaughters (Juanita Salvino (John) of Trenton, Florida) and Katherine Hallman (Dan) of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas) and great grandchildren (Richard,Braun,  JW Ward, John Salvino III, Alexandria Powell and Briar Bolt)  and many great, great grandchildren.  Husband (Earl Dail), parents (Katie and AB Rogers), sister (Lavon Arredondo) and brother (AB (Junior) Rogers) predeceased her.

Juanita lived life to the fullest and enjoyed many adventures as a world traveler and spending time sharing her experiences with her loving family and all her adopted fur and feather babies she collected along the way.  The family will always have many wonderful memories and she will live on in their hearths forever.

A visitation will be held from 3pm-5pm Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Andrews Valley Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11am Monday, May 9, 2016 at Andrews Valley Chapel.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
