June Brown Taylor

Marian June Brown Taylor, 90, of Leland, died Sunday, March 11, 2018, at home.

June was born September 24, 1927 in Elizabeth City, NC, daughter of the late Robertson Crusoe Skiles and Cassie Toler Skiles. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Farish Brown, second husband, John A. Taylor, Sr., daughter, Linda Carol Franklin, step-daughter, Shirley Pigford, step-son, Johnny Taylor, Jr., two brothers, and three sisters.

June was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was very active with her family, friends and her church. June was an active member of Gibson Avenue Baptist Church where she found a second family. Some of her hobbies included several different crafts and singing in the choir at her church. Her favorite past-time was going out to eat with her friends. June was loved deeply by everyone.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma June Hinnant; step-daughters, Caroline Smith, Bonnie Tompkins, and Donna Gideon; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7pm to 8pm Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Andrews Market Street Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, March 16, 2018, at Andrews Market Street Chapel with Deacon Mike King officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
