Kelly Wayne Cooper, 53, of Hampstead, NC, died Monday evening, November 9, 2009 in a boating accident off Topsail Island. Kelly was an avid fisherman who loved the water and outdoors. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Kelly was born in Greensboro, NC, on January 26, 1956 the son of the late Charles E. and Maude Dalton Cooper. He grew up on Grayland Drive and lived in Greensboro for thirty-three years until moving to Wilmington in 1989. He graduated from Page High School in Greensboro. He is survived by his loving wife Maureen Cooper and step-daughter Kelly Thompson; his two children, son, David E. Cooper and wife Brandy, daughter, Laura L. Cooper; three grandchildren, Dejah, Sadeya, and Addison Cooper; a brother, Charles Gene Cooper; and a sister, Elizabeth Tinker Cooper. A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flot-10-09, c/o John Olesniewicz, 146 Olde Point Road, Hampstead, NC 28443.
