

Kimberly Jane Katzenberger, 33, of Wilmington, NC, passed away March 9, 2010, in Colorado Springs, CO after a brief illness. She was born in Wilmington, Delaware, November 22, 1976, daughter of Diane Lynn Katzenberger of Wilmington, NC and the late Mark Steven Katzenberger. Kimberly graduated from E.A. Laney High School in Wilmington, NC in 1994. She graduated from East Carolina in 1999 with a B.S. in Special Education-LD and a minor in psychology. Kimberly continued her education at ECU earning her Ma Ed, in Special Education. She was employed as a Special Education teacher at Princess Anne and Tallwood High Schools in Virginia Beach, and later with E.A. Laney High School, Wilmington, NC. Most recently she had been employed with the Worsley Corporation in Wilmington. Kim was a member of the Council for Exceptional Children, the Parent-Teacher Association, the North Carolina Educators Association, and a Relay for Life Team Captain. She loved animals and people and will be greatly missed by her family and the many friends and students whose lives she touched along her way. Surviving in addition to her mother is her brother, Rusty Katzenberger and wife Alida and their son Alexander all of Fredricksburg, VA; her grandmother, Jane Morgan of Mt. Vernon, IN; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of Kim's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010 at McClure Memorial Presbyterian Church, Castle Hayne, NC phone:910-675-2944.
