Larry Edward Parrish, Sr., 79, of Castle Hayne, North Carolina, was welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on August 21, 2025. He was born on August 4, 1946, to the late Fred Parrish, Sr. and Iris Parrish.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Sharon Parrish, whom he married in 1965. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and family. He is also survived by his children, Amy (Ray) Stebbins, Lori (Steve) Dunnigan, and Larry (Wendy) Parrish, Jr.; his three grandchildren Cory Abercrombie, Jay & Ashley Parrish; and three great-grandchildren Kyla, Jules & Ian Abercrombie who were his joy. Larry is also survived by his sisters, Jean Bennett, Janet Yates, and Juanita Rappley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Parrish, Jr.
Larry spent his childhood in Castle Hayne where he remained for the entirety of his life. To him, there was truly no place like home. He had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found tending to his garden, taking pride in the simple beauty of God’s creation. Above all, Larry found his greatest pride in his family—living proof of “all because two people fell in love.”
A man of steadfast faith, Larry’s devotion to his Heavenly Father and his church was unwavering. He was a loving and faithful husband, a devoted daddy, a proud granddaddy, and the steady rock of his family. His strength, guidance, and love will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
The family finds comfort in these words:
Our father, solid, strong, and true,
A steadfast rock, for me and you.
Through stormy seas and winds that blow,
His steady heart helps our love grow.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday August 27, 2025 at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC 28412.
