Laurie was born and raised in Tully, New York by her loving parents Raymond and Sally Greene. Laurie started her first big adventure in her early 20’s by following her dream to move across the country and live in California. It was destiny when she met her husband, Cleave, back in New York via a mutual friend while visiting family. She knew he was the one and changed course by moving from sunny California to Indiana to be with him while he finished graduate school. That's love.
Laurie and Cleave were married in Tully 36 years ago and moved to Agawam, Massachusetts. Laurie’s goal in life, from the beginning, was to be a mom and raise her children. Laurie and Cleave were blessed with two children, Rebecca and Sean, before deciding to move back to Tully, New York, where they knew it would be a great place to raise them. Laurie loved being a mother of two. Any more children, she said, and you are outnumbered and can't all fit into a restaurant booth. After becoming empty nesters and nearing Cleave’s retirement, Laurie and Cleave decided to make another move to their dream home in Leland, North Carolina to be closer to the beach in a warm and sunny climate. She said every day felt like a vacation there.
Laurie excelled at whatever she cared about. She would fully immerse herself into her hobbies, spending hours researching, perfecting, and enjoying them before moving on to something completely different. She created fabric quilts and wooden barn quilts, grew cut flowers, cared for and propagated house plants, and even immersed herself into woodworking for a time. Some of her hobbies turned into business ventures, including owning a cruise agent franchise and most recently operating an online used clothing store she called “Laurie’s Second Act”, a venture that she was truly passionate about as it incorporated all of her strengths and interests. Laurie reveled in the hunt for in-demand, high quality used items that could be enjoyed by others. She had a talent for finding treasures amongst piles of clothes, often reaching into a bin of items and effortlessly finding top brands like Lululemon just by touching the fabric. “Laurie’s Second Act” was a success in bringing joy, purpose, and an activity for her and Cleave to do together.
Laurie also loved planning vacations, doing puzzles, reading, walking, and going to the beach. But above all, Laurie loved her friends and family. Nothing made Laurie happier than having “all her people” together in any environment, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. Laurie was always fun to be around and made sure her house was a welcome place to be. She had a playful and adventurous personality that searched for new experiences she could share with others, especially her loving husband Cleave. In the final years of her life, Laurie and Cleave enjoyed many once in a lifetime adventures, including trips to Italy, Greece, the river Danube, Alaska, and a road trip around the United States. Laurie was also planning trips to Morocco, a second cross-country road trip to the National Parks, and she had dreams of walking Camino de Santiago in Spain.
Laurie is survived by her husband Cleave Snow, her father Raymond Greene, her mother Sally Greene, her brother Jeffrey Greene, her daughter Rebecca Hartnett (and her husband Gregory), her son Sean Snow (and his wife Brittany), her granddaughter Journey Hartnett, her uncles James Jenks and Robert Jenks, her aunt Barbara Seligman, and her cousins - all who will forever cherish her memory.
A gathering to celebrate Laurie’s life will be held at Tully United Community Church on November 22nd at 11am. If unable to attend, please contact the church for a livestream link.
