After a beautiful day of chores and light work in his yard at the home they both loved on Middle Sound Road, he finished his great adventure by going to bed with satisfaction in the day, then arose on the other side, life in the company of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Larry was born on July 24, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Russell and Helen Hunt. One of only three candidates to be selected for a coveted new leading-edge apprenticeship at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, he was launched into his career in the preventative maintenance industry with the Miele Printing press company, King of Prussia, PA office.
Moving to Wilmington in 1979 and being a man of action when action was needed, he rose to the position of Plant superintendent for Federal Paper Board, Carton Division in Wilmington NC, where he made countless lifelong friends. Retiring early at 57 he went on to become a successful property owner/manager, an occupation he enjoyed and carried on with until just a couple of years before his passing.
In addition to his parents, Russ and Helen, he was predeceased by his grandson, Samuel Hunt; his sister Marjorie Jersey and her husband Chet, Larry’s eldest brother Russell Hunt and his wife Delores.
Big Larry loved many things; he loved taking care of his property and his wife, he loved helping people, singing barbershop, he loved his weekly breakfast meetings with friends and cohorts, he loved many, many dogs over his lifetime, both his as well as our extended family dogs. One love to top his list is work, life would not have been worth living for him without it. We thank and praise God he was able to enjoy that past time right up to the very end.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sandra F. Hunt of the home; sons: Lawrence David Hunt “Larry”, with his wife Julia of Wilmington, NC and Richard John Hunt and wife AnnMarie of Dallas, Georgia; his grandchildren: Zachery and Alee Hunt and big brothers: Ralph Hunt, with wife Blanca of Florida, Donald Hunt and his wife Kathy of Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks, if you are able, to make a donation in Larry’s name to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 2pm to 4pm on Thursday, April 27th 2023 at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington, NC 28412 where his friends and acquaintances may pay their respect.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.CobleGreenlawn.com for the Hunt family.
