

Leroy Beasley, Jr. passed away Monday, September 7, 2015, at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC, after a long illness. He was born on July 30, 1933, in Wilmington, NC, to the late Edgar Leroy Beasley and Annie Mae Rogers Beasley. After graduating from N.C. State, he pursued a career in church furniture manufacturing and worked for Winebarger Church Furniture in Lynchburg, Virginia for 25 years. He served as President of the Church Furniture Manufacturers Association from 1976 to 1978. In 1984 he returned to his hometown of Wilmington, NC, and became a land developer, operating as Beasley Associates. Throughout the years, Leroy contributed to the growth and development of many communities within the area until his retirement several years ago. He is survived by his wife, Sondra, one daughter, Christina Zehner (Steve), one granddaughter, Zoe Zehner, and two sons, John Beasley and Randy Crews (Abbey), all of Wilmington, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2015, at Pine Valley United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
