Lillian Rankin Morris

Lillian Rankin Morris, 97, of Wilmington, died Thursday, August 6, 2015 at her residence in Durham. She was born November 21, 1917, in Gastonia, daughter of the late Robert F. Rankin and Florence Jane Rankin. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Robert C Morris (Buddy); sisters Juanita Rankin of Wilmington, Ruth Nimocks of Fayetteville, Coy Pate of Raleigh, Margaret West of Pittsburgh PA; and brothers Ray Rankin of Charlotte and Charles Rankin of Jacksonville, FL. Lillian was a caring, generous, and selfless individual whose priorities were her family and her religion. She enjoyed cooking, cake decorating, painting, and flower arranging. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Lillian is survived by daughter Jane Morris Jones and son-in law Dr. David E Jones; grandchildren Nathan David Jones, Ian Michael Jones and wife Jessica Dunbar Jones; great grandchildren Maya Lillian Jones and Ulysses Jones all of Durham; brother Wilton Rankin of Charlotte; sister-in-law Elizabeth LeGwin of Wilmington; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Chris, Nate, Rosa, Anita, and Diane of Duke Hospice for their compassionate care. A memorial service will be held at Bethany Presbyterian Church at 11 AM, on Monday, August 10, 2015 and the family will receive visitors after the service.
