

Louise King Roudabush, 92, passed away September 15, 2012 at home, surrounded in love by her family and friends. Born February 5, 1920 in Martinsburg, West Virginia to Estie and Earl King, she was one of five children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Roudabush. She is survived by her two daughters, Gail Haertel, husband Cecil, and Suzanne King, both of Wilmington, NC. Also four grandchildren, Christy Furr, Scott Parker, Keith Haertel of Wilmington and Trey Haertel of Atlanta, Georgia. Two great grandchildren, Christopher Parker and Chloe Haertel. Also surviving are two sisters, Virginia Clipp of Martinsburg, WV and Ann Kackley of Waynesboro, PA. and numerous nieces and nephews.
During WWII, Louise was an aluminum welder at Glenn L. Martin in Baltimore, MD and Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego, CA., where her husband was stationed in the USMC. Upon returning to Baltimore, she worked for American Gas Company welding radio boxes for invasion landings. Later in life, she worked many years for Ballard’s Restaurant in Wilmington where
she was a favorite of all her customers. A lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, she also served as a volunteer at the Seaman’s Center at the States Ports for over 20 years, which was an outreach of the church. Louise was a loving, caring and supportive Mother who will be greatly missed by her children, as well as a loving and caring friend to all who knew her.
Special thanks to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice nursing staff who assisted in her care and helped with her transition. Many thanks also to the staff of Senior Helpers who assisted in her care.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 10:00am at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. A committal service will follow at Wilmington National Cemetery.
