

Madeline was born December 30, 1922 in Wilmington, NC, a daughter of the late John Quince Russell and Nellie Irene Potter Russell. Her husband of 40 years, Claude Jordan; daughter, Elizabeth Irene Jordan Yopp; son-in-law, Harry Yopp; granddaughter, Tracie Robbin Mills; and nine younger siblings, preceded her in death.
Madeline worked at Cape Fear Memorial Hospital for more than 30 years and officially retired at age 85. She continued to serve as a volunteer at New Hanover Regional Medical Center until 2017. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and traveling and also loved to crochet and sew. Madeline was a dedicated Christian wife, mother and grandmother; she was also a member of Pine Valley Church of God for most of her life.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy “Dot” Lynn Jordan (William Peterson) of Wilmington, NC and Rachel Diane Jordan Mills (Troy) of Longs, SC; a son, Donald “Donnie” Claude Jordan of Hagerstown, MD; brother, William Russell (Martha) of Wilmington; and a sister, Betty Russell of Panama City, FL. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am today, February 5, 2019, at Pine Valley Church of God, located at 3810 Shipyard Boulevard and a memorial service to follow at the church at 11am. Interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park directly following the service.
