Margaret Allen McCall

Margaret Allen McCall passed away Sunday January 20,2007 at her home following a brief illness. She was born in Wilmington, N.C. on May 29, 1915, the daughter of James Joseph and Marion Banks Allen. The sixth of seven children, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings. In 1941, she was married to Robert Dennis McCall, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1992. Mrs. McCall was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and graduated from St. Mary’s parochial High School in 1932. After graduation, she worked for her father and her brother John Banks Allen in their business J.J. Allen and Son, a wholesale grocery and feed dealer, until 1942. Later in life she was associated with her husband and son Dennis as Secretary/Treasurer of McCall’s Hurricane Fence Company and McCall’s True Value Hardware until her retirement in 1977. She is survived by one daughter, Dr. Marion McCall Danforth of Raleigh NC, two sons, Dennis McCall Jr. and wife Linda Kellum McCall of Wilmington, NC, and Dr. Michael McCall and wife Carolyn Simmons McCall of Versailles, KY, twelve grand children, nineteen great grand children, one great great grandchild, a number of nieces and nephews, among them Sister Mary Rosalind Picot of Belmont, NC, and Ann Allen of Wilmington, NC, a dear friend who is like a daughter Terri Kuczynski , and caregivers Jenell Hillma and Angela Bridges The family will receive friends Monday from 11 am to 12 noon at Andrews Market Street Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Monday January 20, 2008 at 1pm followed by interment in Oakdale Cemetery. Pall bearers include grandsons, great grandsons and grandsons in law.
