

Margaret Christie Cranidiotis Passaris fell asleep in the Lord on September 27,2014, in Bolivia, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 62 years, Stanley Constantine Passaris, parents Michalakena and Christos Cranidiotis, godfather George Karagiannis, siblings Peter and Barbara Cranidiotis, nephew and godson Gregory Cranidiotis, and grandson Jon Luke Emanuelson. A devoted mother and grandmother, Margaret is survived by her five children Chrysisse P. McDonald (John), Michele P. Lester (David), Barbara P. Emanuelson (Fr. Jon), Constantine S. Passaris II (Virginia), Christopher S. Passaris (Katherine), eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four nephews, and special friend of the family Cheryl Gilchrist. Margaret was a life-long Greek Orthodox Christian. She was a member of the Hellenic Woman's Club and the Philoptochos Society. She had served on many committees, as well as the parish council while a member of the St. Nicholas Parish in Virginia Beach. Margaret had also been a member of the Annunciation Cathedral in Baltimore, Maryland, Annunciation Cathedral in Norfolk, Virginia, and the St. Nicholas Parish of Wilmington, NC. A woman of multiple talents, Margaret excelled in culinary arts, was a brilliant conversationalist, devotee of literature, and a champion for education. Above all, she was devoted to her church, and imparted this great love to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always considered her children to be her greatest legacy, and shared her many talents and interests with each of them, as well as those who knew her. There will be a Trisagion Service Thursday, October 2 at 7 PM, with visitation from 6-8 PM at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 2002 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, VA. The funeral will be held Friday, October 3 at 11:00 AM, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 621 First Colonial Road, Virginia Beach, VA, with interment to follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park. Her children wish to thank the staff and volunteers of Lower Cape Fear Hospice. for the tender care given to their beloved mother in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nativity of the Theotokos Monastery 121 St. Elias Lane, Saxonburg, PA 16056.
