Margaret Patricia Raney

Margaret Patricia Raney died August 17, 2012. ""Peg"" was born in Duquesne, PA, June 4, 1919, the oldest child of James and Anna Gormley Pearson. She was a graduate of Duquesne high school & attended Duquesne University for one year before moving to New Wilmington, PA with her family. Peg married Willis C. Raney July 22, 1941 and they lived in Pittsburgh and New Castle, PA. In the early 50's, Willis was transferred to Girard, OH and it was there that Peg started her 19 year career with JCPenneys. In 1978 Peg and Willis retired to Pinellas Park, FL, where she was very active in their Mainlands community. Willis died in 1997 and three years later Peg relocated to Virginia Beach, Va., where she immediately became active in her First Colonial retirement community. She moved to Wilmington, NC in 2006. Peg is survived by her two sons; Jim and his wife Debby of Wilmington, NC and Ed and his wife Judy of Bluffton, SC. Also surviving are five Grandchildren : Michael and his wife Ann-Marie , Paul and his wife Tanya, Jill and her husband Michael, Bruce and his wife Amy, and David and his wife Jackie and 13 Great-grandchildren: Madeline, Jack, Cooper, Adam, Emily, Lukas, Tess, Summer, Sandy, Sabrina, Addison, Sidney, and Samantha. Peg is also survived by one brother Bud and his wife Thelma Pearson and three sisters, Madeline Buckley, Eileen Pallante, Bernadette Burtt, her sisters-in-law Virginia Pearson and Edna Shumate, and brother-in-law Guy Jay. Valerie, who Peg named, is one of many nieces and nephews who can claim Peg as their loving Aunt. Peg was preceded in death by her grandson Brian Kent Raney and her brother James Pearson. Peg's lovely smile and fun spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2012, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 1011 Eastwood Road, Wilmington, by Monsignor Stephen C. Worsley. Interment will be in Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Davis HealthCare Center, 1011 Porters Neck Road, Wilmington, NC, 28411.
