Margaret Hewett Shaw

Margaret was born on December 14, 1924, in Brunswick County, NC to the late Ben and Ada Hewett. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Glenn Shaw, Sr; her daughter, Theresa Moenich; a grandson, Robert Shaw and a granddaughter, Bree Moenich.

She was a 50-year member of Lake Forest Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and is a current member of Temple Baptist. Early in Margaret’s career, she was a cosmetologist. Later in life, Margaret served our community for 43 years at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  Always wanting to give back, she volunteered at a local nursing home and was a member of the Pilot Club and Project Life Saver with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

She is survived by her son, Arthur G. Shaw, Jr of Holden Beach, NC; grandchildren, Kim, Robin and Katherine; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Bradley; siblings, Nina Browder and James Hewett both of Holden Beach, NC.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021, from 1 -2 pm at Temple Baptist Church, 1801 Market Street, where a funeral service will begin at 2 pm. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Margaret’s name to the Scleroderma Association at Johns Hopkins or the American Heart Association.
