She was born on November 28, 1934, in Oxford, NC.
Surviving are three children, Cathy Hammett (Don), Michael Smith (Trudy) and Lynwood Smith (Monica); a daughter-in-law, Sandra Burwell; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Also remembered is her husband of fifty-seven years, Lyman A. Smith, Jr and her son, Richard Thomas Burwell “Dickie”, both of who preceded her in death.
Margaret was a longtime member of Winter Park Baptist Church. She was a kind and sweet soul who was thoughtful and dedicated to the Lord and to her family. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were very precious to her.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Winter Park Baptist Church, 4700 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington, NC 28403.
