In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her father in – law, William L. Whitehurst and two brothers in – law, James F. Godwin and Charles Whitehurst.
Margaret was a graduate of North Brunswick High School. She retired from Federal Paper, where she worked as a press operator. Margaret resided on Holiday Hills Drive, where she enjoyed her love of the water, fishing, and kayaking.
She is survived by her husband, William Whitehurst; sister, Janice T. Godwin (James); sister, Debra R. Carier (Ed); brother; John C. Skipper (Cheryl); brother, Jack A. Tompkins (Lonnie); and uncle, John Hewett. The cousin club, Ruby Jane, Joyce, Dorthy, Gary, David, Johnny, and their families. Along with eight nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Tabitha, Jason, Heather, Brooke, Josh, Charles, and Stephen, whom she loved very much.
The funeral service will be held at12pm on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Coble Ward – Smith Funeral & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the funeral service at 11am. Interment will immediately follow at Skipper Cemetery in Maco, NC. The service will be officiated by Pastor Dan Bennett with music by Sonya Bennett.
Reception to follow interment at Fellowship Hall, Greenfield Baptist Church (1401 S. 3rd Street, Wilmington, NC 28401).
