Mari Michele Guthrie

Mari Michele Guthrie, 49, a native of Greenville, SC and a former resident of Greenville, NC died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 following a 25+ year courageous fight with kidney and heart disease. Visitation with Mari's family and many friends will be held 2:00 PM on Monday, October 25 at the Andrews Mortuary Market Street in Wilmington followed by a ""Celebration of Life"" in the Andrews Mortuary Chapel at 3:00 PM -- officiated by Reverend ""Rocky"" Myrick. Mari is the daughter of Dr. Al Guthrie and the late Harriett Holiday Hayes Guthrie. Mari was one of life's gifts and an inspiration to all that knew her. Her positive outlook, giving personality, quick wit and loving demeanor made her a close friend for many. A life-long lover of dogs, she treated her beloved pets as family and proclaimed: ""My goal in life is to be the kind of person my rescue pet Harley thinks I am!"" She is survived by her: Father: Dr. Al Guthrie of Carolina Beach, NC; brothers, Alan Hayes Guthrie wife Shelly of Walhalla, SC and niece Shawna Winans, husband Roger and children, Kailan, Nathan, Morgan and Erin of Wake Forest, NC and Aldine Mark Guthrie of Fairfield, CT nephews Erik & Jonathan and niece Stephanie of Wilmington, NC; Uncle Lou Gregory Hayes wife Donna and cousins Chris Hayes & wife Virginia of Greenville, SC; and Heather Hayes Zachary of Winston Salem, NC; cousin Joyce Brewer of Greenville, SC; and numerous loving friends.
