Marie Penny Sikes

Marie Penny Sikes, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, left the pain and confinement of her earthly body behind and entered into the loving care of her Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 25, 2009 with her family at her side at Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove. She was born July 17, 1920 in Whiteville, NC to James L. and Dora Creech Penny, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her husband Oscar David Sikes. She is survived by her son David E. Sikes and wife Saundra , daughter Betty Jo Alford and husband Jerry, two sisters, Juanita P. Smith and husband Raymond and Mozelle McCabe, widow of Ralph, a grandson Gregory W. Jordan and wife Michelle, all of Wilmingon and granddaughter Cynthia Sikes Hollingsworth and husband Terry of Scotts Hill, great grandchildren Parker and Karson Hollingsworth and Megan Jordan. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Andrews Valley Chapel with Rev. Jeff Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services from 1 until 2 PM, Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Dr, Wilmington, NC 28401, whose assistance during this time was greatly appreciated. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove for the excellent care, love, and attention she received during her stay. Their assistance both to Marie and her family will never be forgotten.
