Marie Smith Scoggins

Marie Smith Scoggins, of Wilmington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, July 12, 2011. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed. Marie was born on April 8, 1933 in Brunswick County, North Carolina to the late Beatrice Long Smith and Madison Barcy Smith. Marie is preceded in death by her son, Philip Piver. She is survived by her husband, Darrel L. Scoggins; children: Sherry Harrell Danny, Lee Piver Teri, Teresa Catron Ken, Darrel Scoggins, Jr. Edie, Steve Scoggins Virginia, Roy Scoggins Kim, Robert Scoggins; and several grandchildren. Marie was retired from her career in retail sales, where she ministered to many. She was an active member of Glad Tidings Community Church. The family will receive friends Friday evening July 15 from 7-8 p.m. at Andrews Mortuary, Hampstead Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel. Burial will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glad Tidings Community Church, 3110-1 Randall Parkway, Wilmington, N.C. 28403.
