Marie Sweeney Winzinger

Marie Sweeney Winzinger passed away on Friday February 1, 2019.  Marie lived in Congers, New York for 32 years before retiring with her husband to Leland, North Carolina in 2015 where they built their dream home. She had a long career as a registered nurse in the fields of geriatrics and hospice.  She loved reading, traveling the world and spending her time surrounded by her family and friends.

Marie was born on April 7, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts to Edward and Marie Sweeney.  She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Brigadier General Robert Winzinger; son Robert Winzinger, Jr, his wife Heather and their daughter Isabel; second son Michael Winzinger, his wife Tricia and their children Camron and Krystina; daughter Elizabeth Mello, her husband Luis and their children Gabriel, Felipe and Madeline; siblings Edward Sweeney, Sally Riley and her husband Ernie, and Jeanne Harer; sister-in-law Genevieve Sharp and her husband William; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will include a viewing on Thursday, February 7 from 5 to 8 PM at Andrews Mortuary & Crematory, 1617 Market St. in Wilmington.  A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 8 at 10 AM at the Basilica Shrine of Saint Mary, 412 Ann Street in Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to United Hospice of Rockland or the National Fibromyalgia Association
