Marilyn Rose Cottle

Marilyn Rose Cottle, 66, of Wilmington, NC, passed away September 3, 2023, at her residence surrounded by loved ones. She was born October 14, 1956, in Wilmington, NC, to George Vernon Cottle, Sr., and Elizabeth Thurl Dukes Cottle.

Marilyn was a loving and sweet sister, who adored music and singing, her church, writing in red, and swimming. She collected CD’s, she loved the water, and treasured her occasional trip in a Mustang to get her favorite milkshake. Marilyn was a princess in every way, who loved the bright, flashy, and colorful side of life and would light up when she was able to match her sister Lanette’s wardrobe.

She adored her favorite great-nephew, Jaiden “Tody” Simpson, and great-niece, Piper Curl.

Marilyn is survived by her sister, Lanette Wiggins, Sarah Stevens, and Elizabeth Willetts (Thurman); nieces, Wanda Shipman, Sherry Bruner, Lisa Zock, and Shelia Eichorn; and nephews, Bill Stevens, Bobby Stevens, and Porky Willetts. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews. Bobby and Lori Stevens were her favorite people to tease.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George Cottle, Sr., and Elizabeth Cottle; half-brothers, Kenneth and William Eichorn; brother, George Cottle, Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Pat Wiggins and Jack Stevens.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 8, 2023, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, with a visitation held one hour prior to the service time. Pastor Steve Gasque will officiate. Rachel Sawyer will be singing. Interment will he held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Wilmington National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her parents and her brother.

Pallbearers will be Porky Willetts, Bill Stevens, BJ Huffman, Richard Lombardi, Al Brown, and Gary Robbins.
