

Marilyn Innis Waller, beloved wife of James Waller, passed away on January 5, 2024 at the age of 79. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Marilyn was born on February 16, 1944 in Wilmington, NC. To the late Rebecca and Jasper C. Innis.
Marilyn’s life took her many places beginning and ending in Wilmington with journeys to Washington D.C. and Mississippi. She worked with the Corps of Engineers as a Personnel Specialist, where she met her husband, Winter Park Baptist and Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church as a Pre-K teacher, as a secretary to the Customs Agency Service and continued to devote her time to her husband and children.
In addition to her fulfilling family life, Marilyn had a passion for helping individuals in need, playing piano, she also involved herself in the Women’s Ministries at Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church, and volunteering with CareNet Counseling Services. She really enjoyed singing in the Wilmington Celebration Choir and playing Rummikub with friends and family.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Waller of the home; son, Brian Waller and his wife Keely of Stanley, NC; daughter, Laura Waller Vasquez and husband Limbert of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren: Sarah Waller, Abigail Murray and husband Peyton, Alexis Effler, Emily Vasquez Dansby and husband Malachi, Ashley Vasquez Waller, Grayce Vasquez, Lina Rosen and husband Zachary and James Vasquez; great grandchildren: Nehemiah Thompson, Gabriel Thompson, Maggie Murray and June Murray and brother Marcus Innis and wife Sybil.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday January 9, 2024 at Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 800 Piner Road, Wilmington, NC 28409.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church 800 Piner Rd. Wilmington, NC 28409 or Lower Cape Fear Lifecare of Wilmington, NC 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
