Marion C. Schmidt

Marion Christine Schmidt, 86, of Wilmington passed away at her home on December 25, 2022. Marion was born on May 12, 1936, in Albany, NY to the late William and Josephine Jones. She was a graduate of the College of St. Rose in Albany. Raising four children kept Marion busy but she still found time to enjoy a round or two of golf as well perfecting delicious meals and baked goods.

In addition to her parents Marion was preceded in death by her loving husband, John A. Schmidt, Sr and her brother, William A. Jones, Jr. She is survived by her children, Cathleen Gormley and her husband, Brian, John A. Schmidt, Jr, Theresa Hughes and her husband, Sam, and Joseph M. Schmidt; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 4 to 6 pm at the Andrews Mortuary, 4108 S. College Rd, Wilmington. A memorial mass will be offered on Thursday, December 29 at 11 am at Basilica Shrine of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 412 Ann Street, Wilmington, NC. A reception will immediately follow at the Lazy Pirate, 701 Lake Park Blvd N, Carolina Beach, NC 28428.
