Mark Allan Hills

Mark was born in Endicott, New York, on May 8, 1951, the son of two loving parents, Maynard and Elizabeth (Overlander) Hills. He graduated from Owego Free Academy and Broome Community College. He was employed for 37 years at IBM/Lockheed Martin in Owego NY. Mark was a member of the American Motorcycle Association for over 50 years. Mark was an adult Boy Scout leader for Troop #38 in Owego, NY and was a member of the National Association of Rocketry which he thoroughly enjoyed building and flying rockets with his sons. His hobbies included hiking and camping with the Boy Scouts, traveling with his family, cooking, baking, and gardening. Mark was also known by many as “Mr. Fix it” which he inherited from his father, Maynard. Mark and Sharon moved to the Carolinas after retiring and enjoyed extensive traveling. Mark loved spending time with his family, friends, and his grandchildren.

Mark was preceded in death by his father Maynard J. Hills and brother-in-law Gilbert Swart. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon Hills; his children, Nicholas (Diana) Hills, Nathan (Sara) Hills, and Amanda Middaugh; and his faithful companion Bandit; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his mother Elizabeth “Betty” Hills; his brothers, Dr. Terry (Virginia) Hills, Brian (Debbie) Hills; his sisters Christine Swart, Kathy LaPlante; his brothers-in- law, Terry (Jodi) LaBombard, Brian (Yvette) LaBombard; his special cousin Leslie Anderson; many nieces and nephews; and his longtime friends Robert and Melodye Onysko.

Mark will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Now that Mark is free from the confines of Parkinson’s, we know that he and his father are traveling the scenic roads, feeling the cool breeze while on their Honda motorcycles.
